CANON: Final Fantasy XV
NAME: Iris Amicitia
AGE: 15
CANON: Final Fantasy XV
CANON HISTORY: Here!
CANON PERSONALITY:
Iris doesn't waste time complaining about any of these hardships. It's not that she isn't sad about all the awful things that happened to her and her loved ones, but rather that she's practical enough to know she has to get past it. And optimistic enough to believe that she will. And while she didn't exactly have to go into the family business, the Amicitia's have always been shields for the royal family. Iris is hardly violent, but she certainly won't shie away from a fight. She's brave enough to stand right beside the boys against monsters, daemons, and enemy soldiers while they are escorting her to Caem. And while we don't actually get to see it, during the time skip she becomes a respected monster hunter herself.
And speaking of the trip to Caem, she's thoughtful enough to offer to help Ignis with the cooking. Something that she can't believe never even occurred to the boys. She scolds them for that. She also scolds her brother for 'storming off' on Noctis after he rejoins the group following a brief absence.Really how are these boys so rude to each other? She also buys Noctis a surprisingly useful good luck charm in the form of a moogle plushie in the hopes that it will protect them on their journey. And she offers to repair it when necessary. And if that would have them coming to visit her now and again, so much the better. Iris always been considerate though. She's the sort of girl who offers to run errands for the group, like delivering the mythril to Cid, so they can get some rest. And she used to bring her father a change of clothes whenever he had to work late.
As much as she tries to be a mature young lady, Iris is still a teen girl at heart. She likes cats, has always wanted to ride a chocobo, and moves with an energetic bounce in her step. Her body language makes it clear that she a lot of excess energy. She's almost constantly moving when she speaks, and she makes a lot of expressive gestures with her hands. Even in the car she rarely keeps still, often twisting around for a better view of the surroundings. She enjoys shopping, and confides to Noct that she'd buy out the whole Partellum market if she could. She also doesn't hide her schoolgirl crush on Noctis very well at all. Before their trip, she offers to help the boys clean out Noctis's filthy apartment. Which in this case had less to do with being nice and more to do with spending one last evening hanging out with him before he goes off and gets married. She puts on a smile when she congratulates him about it, of course. But it's obvious she's feeling bittersweet about it. She wants him to be happy, but it's hard to let go of your first crush.
Honestly, the entire time she's showing him around Lestallum, it's fairly obvious that she badly wants to pretend it's a date. Of course she gets shot down when she jokingly suggests it, but given the age difference and the fact that he's engaged, she was pretty much expecting it. Still, a girl can dream. And it's obvious in the way her fae lights up that it means the world to Iris when Noct gives her flowers unexpectedly. She actually has her brother to thank for that thoughtful gesture. And Noctis is the first person she calls to check on when the settles after the invasion of Insomnia. Fairly though, she probably trusted Gladdy to be okay. Big brother is tough. Noct she has to worry about.
Iris actually used to be a little bit of a brat when she was younger, throwing tantrums and shedding crocodile tears to get her way with grownups. She's better now, but still has her moments. She pouts if Noctis ignores her and isn't above teasing her elders. It's also clear that she feels a little left out when the boys continue on their road trip. She does her best to extend the brief time she gets to travel with them by suggesting detours and various pit stops. Even though she knows they're on kind of a tight schedule. And while she sees them off with a smile, it's pretty obvious that she'd much rather go with them.
SKILLS/ABILITIES: No supernatural powers, but Iris has been taught hand to hand combat and is much tougher than she looks. She knows a little bit about cooking, gardening, and sewing as well.

AU NAME: Iris Amicitia
AU AGE: 15
PHYSICAL DIFFERENCES: None. (Although without black being a socially significant color in this au, her wardrobe is a lot more colorful.)
AU HISTORY:
- A typical teen girl from a wealthy family.
- Both her mother's family and her father's family are extremely concerned with things like tradition and appearances.
- From an early age she was constantly getting lectures on 'appropriate' behavior for a 'young lady.'
-This meant a childhood filled with things like piano lessons (which she hated), ballet (which was okay), and being dragged around to various parties wearing dresses she didn't care for(her mother was fond of frilly princess dresses for her little girl).
-When she was ten she asked if she could quit piano and ballet and take judo. But mom didn't think that was 'appropriate.' Dad suggested horse back riding instead.
-A pony is pretty good bribe for a ten year old, so Iris agreed.
-Her dad tends to solve all of his daughter's complaints by buying her something. In his defense, it often works. (Money is the best substitute for actual parenting.)
-In short, her mother is always trying to control her life and her father isn't paying her much attention.
- What this has all led up to is that Iris is going through a 'rebellious phase.' Often she disagrees with her mother simply because she can. And everything her parents tell her not to do quickly winds up on her to do list.
- Recently she went with some friends to an open audition for a role on a drama series. It was really almost more of a publicity stunt for the show, offering a role to an unknown. Anyone can be a star and all that.
-Her mother wasn't fond of the idea, but allowed it because really what are the chances of her actually getting the part?
-She got the part.
-It's very likely she got the part because she already had taken dance lessons, knew how to ride horseback, and carried herself with a perky air that the director liked.
-Actually it was a lot to do with the riding. There were a couple of key scenes on horseback planned for the character, and it would spare some of the show's budget to find someone who could already ride.
-Not that the auditioning hopefuls were told that.
-Said part is a supporting role on a popular drama based on a series of bestselling fantasy novels.
-A Song of Crystals and Daemons is an increasingly confusing narrative involving warring kingdoms, a prince on the run, and a bunch of mysterious supernatural goings on.
-Iris plays Stella, the younger sister of one of the main characters, but has recently become a fan favorite despite the actual size of her role.
-Actually, they might be increasing her part in response to fan hype. She's not going to let that go to her head though. Much.
-Although, it turns out that acting is harder work and far less glamorous than she imagined it. Her mother has suggested that she quit. So now she can't.
-Plus, there are parts of it that are fun. She sort of wishes they'd let her do her own stunts though.
-Her father actually thinks having a job will build character, perhaps teach her some responsibility. And he secretly enjoys having the 'did you see my daughter on tv last night' bragging rights.
-Mostly she and her parents have agreed that as long as her other responsibilities don't suffer, she can keep her job.
-In school she pulls decent grades but could probably do better. She just doesn't care much for studying.
-She does enjoy the social side of school though, and has a lot of friends.
-Any free time she has is usually spent shopping or riding.
Several points involving other players, which were discussed on the workshop-
- Iris has also been told in no uncertain terms that she is not to associate with her uncle Ardyn. So of course she does. Not just because it ticks off her mom, but because he's actually the coolest adult she knows. And she's entirely more apt to take his advice on a problem than that of parents or teachers. Workshop link here.
- Two of her cousins, children of her mother's other brother, have just moved back into town. Iris hasn't seen them in years, but they chat online sometimes. She's looking forward to hanging out and showing them around the city. And link here.
AU PERSONALITY:
-The biggest difference here is her family situation. In Recolle, Iris grew up in a more stifling environment with a controlling mother, a largely disinterested father and a lot of pressure.
-This has led to a rebellious streak that she never had in canon. In a lot of ways, she's just a kid acting out to get attention.
-She'd be really mad if anyone said that to her though....
-Dealing with the shallowness of a family focused on wealth and social standing has also made her a little more cynical than she would've been otherwise.
-She was also a lot more spoiled, and is less apt to be responsible about things like money.
-She also never went through any of the hardships that her canon self endured, so this Iris isn't as strong emotionally and doesn't bounce back from her problems as fast.
- And lastly, not growing up with an unrequited crush combined with her recent unexpected acting success has actually made Iris more confident and sure of herself.
